My name is Brian Herbster and I am a senior at Seabreeze High School. I will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University next year to study astronomy and astrophysics which means that I will be going to school to learn about the stars and where there might be aliens. In my free time I enjoy looking up at the stars and wondering what might be out in space. I also enjoy sailing on a sailboat and watching the dolphins, turtles, and fish swim around my boat. I have two jack russells named Rocky and Ernie who I play with every day when I get home from school. I don’t eat popsicles very frequently, but when I do my favorite flavor is cherry.
My Friends Among the Stars (Children's Poem)
By: Brian Herbster
I am an astronaut, floating through the stars
thinking of what aliens I will meet on Mars.
The big green aliens greet me with a hug
and then give me a “Solar System’s Greatest Astronaut” mug.
They lead me on tour of Mars, far and wide,
showing me all of the best places where they hide.
We pose for a group picture in front of a rover,
but then we become sad as we know that it is over.
I hug each of the aliens that I’ve come to love
as they tell me “We’ll watch you every night from above.”
I get into my ship and I say my goodbyes.
My rocket blasts off and I close my eyes.
My eyes open upon the starlight;
I am in my backyard and I look up at the stars every night.
I will never forget my alien friends,
who I see on Mars when I look through my telescope lens.
