Jared Barron
America, 2017
Sinatra! Oh how I wish you were here to see;
How America needs you: for she is plagued of quarrels
With once secured virtues: respect, dignity, morals,
Ballads, messages with true meaning and glee,
Have resigned their once great American courtesy
Of classic melodies from the soul. We have no essence;
Oh! bring us forth, grace us again with your presence
And give us form, reason, modesty, humility,
Whose poise was much yearned for,
And a voice whose sound made most weep,
A sound of burnished bronze, harmonious, deep,
And you were just like the rest of us,
Living life to it’s fullest, like an albatross you did soar,
All with your calm demeanor, with little to no fuss.
