Hey! My name is Luke McCurdy and I am a senior at Seabreeze High School. My favorite thing to do on a nice day is go to the beach, which happens to be where I work as a Volusia County Ocean Rescue Lifeguard. I play Track, Wrestling, and surf when I can, I’m an Eagle Scout, I was born in Delaware but have lived in 6 states, and I really like writing poetry!
Children's Poem
To Lie in the Grass
By: Luke McCurdy
A super special spot
Is all that you’ll need
On top of a hill
Or down in the reed
No one can know
Except a special few
Who have your back
And believe in you
Once safe in your spot
There are supplies to unpack
A smile, some laughter
Plus maybe a snack
Weather allowing
And with plenty of space
Look up at the sky
See her bright blue face
With green down below
And blue up above
It is easy to fall
So deeply in love
But when the time comes
And you’re all out of day
Look up at the stars
And see what they say
For nothing’s quite so dazzling
And that splattered black and white
The day may be gone
But you still have the night
